It’s hard to feel the beauty now That’s within anything All life’s colours washed away by tears Every consequence rehearsed and played I have to find another way Words on the wind Reach me now Don’t speak softly to me Shout tell the world what you see We all bleed So now Let the silence hold you Disjointed words I never heard Are haunting me Whispered only memories are lost The future always follows yesterday I have to find another voice Words on the wind Reach me now Don’t speak softly to me Shout tell the world what you hear We all bleed So now Let the silence hold you Words from the silence rise Emerging from the noise I hear a voice to guide the way Words on the wind Reach me know Don’t speak softly to me Shout tell the world what you need We all bleed Words on the wind Reach me know Don’t speak softly to me Shout tell the world what you need

And as I feel the last flame die I hear the words of songs that made us cry All words of anger not of love There’s nothing here There’s nothing left And nothing’s not enough And I would walk away Leave the weight you laid on me for so long Give it back where it belongs I wish you well a thousand times To leave it all behind I’m taking back my time Time to take a little time To see what lies ahead for us But nothing comes to mind Only writing on the wall Of empty words and hollow sounds And empty says it all And I would walk away Leave the weight you laid on me for so long Give it back where it belongs I wish you well a thousand times To leave it all behind I’m taking back my time Helpless and stranded How you’d want me to stay It’s not enough to be your plaything See your plaything Walking away And I would walk away And leave the weight you laid on me for so long Take it back where it belongs I wish you well a thousand times And leave it all behind I’m taking back my time I hear the words of songs that made us cry Taking back my time

I keep running but I dare not look behind There’s a fire in the forest that I call my mind And when I think of you I run into the sycamore and pine I hide it’s all I can do and when I look at you When I look at you I’m blown away, I am blown away There are no words to describe what it is you do to me And heaven only knows if I will find some peace And maybe find my way My heart is beating like it’s racing against time And the speed at which the hands move is such a crime Every time I’m blown away, I am blown away I have never known a feeling so incendiary And every little piece of me belongs to you I am yours in every way Je me suis dit que jʼétais digne de ton soleil fantasque Mais bientôt ton cœur lâchera sur mon silence de morte Et ma beauté accorte / ne se portera / plus au-delà de ton éternité Toi qui mʼembrasse ce soir / avec elle / dans lʼair aux parfums de roses Toi qui mʼeffacera entière / éclose / au crépuscule en vain Jʼose te dire dans toute lʼimmensité Réveille moi! La vérité ce cache / sans que tu saches / Le jeu habituel de la liberté It’s all I can do and when I look at you I’m blown away There are no words to describe what it is you do to me And heaven only knows if I will find some peace And maybe find my way

She pulls herself out from the bedclothes and she opens the curtains wide Stares down to the valley where the healthy and the happy float by   She says “I could sleep for England”   Driving on a wet night, kiss under a striplight – the same old craving Slammed doors, feel shaken, all the useless medication you’ve tried   Sleep for England   Chancers and schemers, righteous believers Life’s little dreamers all gathered here in one place   Sleep for England (3x) Drive home on a wet night, kiss under a striplight again

Untouchable 04:20
The cup is smashed The pieces lay like memories Suspended and silent Match your eyes faded blue They’re so sharp they can cut you to the bone Soaked to the skin knocked to the ground Where was I I know I should have been with you But contemplating loneliness Is hard to do You and I The tempest held so deep inside The sense of only yesterday Untouchable Unseen The darkness whispers to the light Dreams of leaving taking flight With all your charms unchained No one will hear your hidden words No one will see where you are going now The doors are closed you are alone Your un-walked streets remain forever Forever You are untouchable You are untouchable You are untouchable now You are untouchable You are untouchable You are untouchable now

Mother was on a diet for most of her life She was never very happy in her skin As well as being labelled a deserted wife There was an expectation for her to be thin Forked parochial tongues Spitting malcontent Her husband bailed out No one knows where he went He was a foreigner don't you know It only goes to show Better the devil you know The devil you know Maybe she wouldn't be alone If she’d stuck with one of her own Oh don't believe a word That don't make no sense at all And these children of god Never say it to her face They smile whenever they see her They think she's a disgrace They confess to some paedophile Seeking forgiveness all the while It's the god that they know The only god that they know Better the god that they know Oh don't believe a word That don't make no sense at all

Seachange 03:50
We walk through cool saltgrass Looking out across the bay And I think of you in those sterile halls Lying there while all we could do was wait   And we can feel a seachange It’s simmering, coming over us A warm breeze on my face I only wish you could feel this too   Down on the shore we stand and wait Such an affinity with this place   And we can feel a seachange Simmering, coming over us A warm breeze on my face I only wish you could feel this too   And we can feel, feel, a seachange

A break in the weather The cold dust that settles leaves a trace Something to remember Another time another place A vague recollection Your hand reaching out No lost connection We’re only wasting time Surrounded by silence Yesterday echoes from the walls With occasional blindness I choose to see nothing there at all As your words wrap around me Whispering touch They chase me to sunlight Now all we need is time It’s hard to know when things go wrong If you should go or carry on If you get burned you’d better learn Read between the lines look for the signs It’s so cold in the city The heat from the day extinguished now I stand in the doorway The threshold of what is then and now I look to the future I see you face Let’s search for tomorrow Now all we have is time And time is all we need A break in the weather

Mama's mad 03:25
She said to me what have they done to the rivers They poisoned the ocean and felled the trees They sullied the air right into the atmosphere What have they done to me And you see all that you have done And you don't even care Now soon everything you know Will come crashing down around your ears Now soon it will all come tumbling down around you She said to me it’s not in my nature To be this fierce you made me this way Now mama’s mad and you’re all responsible And there’s a price to pay What have they done they done to the rivers What have they done they done to the trees They sullied the air and poisoned the ocean What have they done they done to me She said to me what have they done to the rivers They poisoned the ocean and felled the trees They sullied the air right into the atmosphere What have they done to me What have they done to me

In the mirror Reflected stories The nighttimes calling to you Half a cigarette to pass the time and then you’re gone Another lie stolen from a magazine A brand new life with eyes so bright But are you lonely If you wanted to break all the chains that surround you Burn all of your bridges and leave Turn your night into day walk away it’s okay Don’t look back I’ll be there in your dreams No echoes of laughter The morning after The memories fading away From the rooftop I watch you walking away Another life to lead Will you be lonely If you wanted to break all the chains that surround you Burn all of your bridges and leave All our words carved in stone Turned to sand then run through my hands Now they’re gone lost to the wind Don’t just walk away Turn your head and say that we’ve still got time That’s all we need Don’t take another step It can’t be over yet We just need some time That’s all we need

about

Once upon a time, there existed a breed of singers who didn’t need AutoTune: they could bend, shape and twist their voices any way they wanted to. Dutch Composer Stephen Emmer a passionate aficionado of this great genre has brought together a collective of supreme voices, creating an album of days gone by Bond-esque proportions.

'International Blue’ pays tribute to the lost art and elegance of pop-crooning, and thus to the people who Stephen considers the style's main architects, Scott Walker and David Bowie.
Stephen has again had the pleasure and honor of working with Tony Visconti, David Bowie’s long time collaborator, who produced the album at Abbey Road Studios (London) and Avator Studios (NYC).

Featuring artists include Midge Ure (Ultravox), Neil Crossley (Furlined), Liam McKahey (Cousteau) and Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17), who was recently invited by both Tony Visconti and David Bowie to vocally perform the ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ live tour in the UK. The mighty Glenn Gregory plays a key roll in the IB project, since he collaborated on 4 out of the 10 album songs.

Stephen in the past also worked with Lou Reed and Mike Garson, when working on his previous well received and highly acclaimed album ‘Recitement’.
