Stephen Emmer’s latest musical offering Home Ground addresses contemporary concerns within the timeless musical excellence of classic soul combined with the sonic impact of the 21st century. The Home Ground songs are vocally performed by a careful selection of musical icons from the last 5 decades. The impressive featured artists line up includes CHAKA KHAN, PATTI AUSTIN, ANDY BEY, KENDRA FOSTER, FRANK MCCOMB, MARY GRIFFIN, DWIGHT TRIBLE, URSULA RUCKER and the late LEON WARE.

The main lyrical thrust of Home Ground is the world that is in constant conflict or war, whether over land, religion or race; this is not just black against white, it’s also poor against rich, justice against injustice, and the myriad other ongoing conflicts that beset our world.

In an effort to help make this world a better place the Home Ground campaign will be in support of charity. Based on the lyrical content and the fact that the project is music-based, Stephen immediately thought of War Child as the perfect fit. War Child works for a better future for hundreds of thousands of children affected by war. They help them cope with their conflict-related experiences, rebuild relationships with friends and families and regain their self-confidence. A fair share of proceedings (25% on digital sales profit and 50% on physical sales profit) will be donated to War Child.

War Child works for a better future for hundreds of thousands of children affected by war. They help them cope with their conflict-related experiences, rebuild relationships with friends and families and regain their self-confidence.

War Child creates safe places where they can be children again and work to build a stable and peaceful future – both for themselves and their communities. The campaign will therefore focus on creating increased awareness for the amazing work of War Child. At the same time we’ll donate a fair share of the proceeds to support them in helping ‘our’ children - the best cornerstone imaginable for a future world at peace.

25% Of all digital music sales and 50% of physical sales will be donated to War Child to support them in helping ‘our’ children, the undeniable cornerstone of a future world in peace. Therefore feel free to pay more for the download if you like. 100% of additional income (on top of the basic price) will be donated to War Child. Your support will be highly appreciated.

lyrics

Sometimes it’s so hard to see where you fit in
Life’s like that
Never in the same place the people that you meet
Seem so lonely
Then suddenly you meet someone and you know
There’s a new day
Suddenly now everything has changed
It’s time to make this happen
It’s time to say goodbye

Yesterday oh yesterday
Why do you have to follow me around
I think it’s time
Maybe we should say goodbye
Oh yesterday oh yesterday
We had so much fun but now it’s gone
It’s time to move on
Yesterday meet tomorrow now

I was just a tourist with nothing left to see yeah
But this is where I am now and this is where I’ll be yeah
Maybe now I’ve found a place that I know I’ll be me
Changes happen all the time you know

It’s time to make this happen
This time I know it’s real

Yesterday oh yesterday
Maybe now you’ve stopped and turned around
Maybe it’s time
We had to say goodbye you know
Yesterday oh yesterday
Today I’m gonna be someone you know
I’m moving on
But don’t be sad we always had to say goodbye

Say goodbye
Turn away and look inside
To find the strength the love and pride that you will need
To carry on

I’m taking myself into something new
Change is time moving on
And this is where you can find me now

It’s time for us to say goodbye
To yesterday

I won’t let the memories fade away
Yesterday becomes tomorrow

Yesterday oh yesterday
Tomorrow I won’t miss you yesterday
We say goodbye

Tomorrow is the future and it’s happening now
I’ll let tomorrow come to me
We all have our memories that fade
But don’t turn your back and walk away

Yesterday I’ll always remember you
